SPARTANBURG, S.C. (FOX Carolina) -Dust off your kayaks and head to Duncan Park Lake, as the 14-acre lake reopens for non-motorized boating and catch-and-release fishing after being untouched for decades.
SALUDA, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Saluda Grade Trail was awarded a $450,000 grant; it is one of four projects throughout Appalachia to be selected for one. The Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies, a part of the federal Appalachian Regional Commission, provided the grant. The Saluda Grade Trail is a 31-mile rail trail that will travel through the Piedmont countryside before climbing into the mountains along the route of the historic Saluda Grade railway. Non-profit organizations Conserving Carolina; PAL: Play, Advocate, Live Well; and Upstate Forever are spearheading the development of the trail.
For the past four months, Spartanburg PAL’s Food Hub has been selling local produce to individual consumers through an online store.
