National Trails Day

June 6, 2026 | 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM

Celebrate National Trails Day with your friends at SPACE, PAL, Keep OneSpartanburg Beautiful, and the Local Hiker by giving back to the places you love! Join us for a volunteer stewardship morning where you can choose your own adventure - pick up litter along the trails, help pull tires and trash from Lawson’s Fork Creek, or team up to remove invasive plants from the landscape. All supplies will be provided, but please bring your own drinking water and work gloves if you have them. It’s a great way to care for our community, connect with neighbors, and make a visible impact on the Cottonwood Trail we all enjoy. Did we mention there's an afterparty?! After a hard day's work, go get cleaned up then meet us back at the Local Hiker! First drink is on the house for Trails Day Volunteers!

The Saluda Grade Trail

is on the way

After four years of work, PAL and partners have purchased the historic Saluda Grade rail line for conversion into a future trail. With state funding from the state of South Carolina and the SC Conservation Bank, the project is now moving into design and engineering. PAL will lead the South Carolina portion of this project.

PAL Food Hub

Eat Fresh & Local

Establishing a food hub is one way to strengthen our local food system by offering more locally grown food to more people in Spartanburg. The hub provides a centralized process where buyers can purchase local food from different farmers. For farmers, it provides an additional market and takes the burden of marketing off of them.

Subaru Bike Park

First of its kind in the Upstate

A community collaboration, the park includes bicycle features like the wood and dirt flow trails which take mountain bikers on a roller coaster experience with little pedaling and braking necessary. The park was made to suit all skill levels, built with progressive features so you can start small and advance at your own pace. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.
