PAL's Food Hub

The purpose of PAL’s Food Hub is to create a sustainable and equitable food system that provides easy and increased access to local, fresh, healthy food.
What is a Food Hub?

Establishing a food hub is one way to strengthen our local food system by offering more locally grown food to more people in Spartanburg. The hub provides a centralized process where buyers can purchase local food from different farmers. For farmers, it provides an additional market and takes the burden of marketing off of them.

How we Incorporate Equity:

  • Distributing local healthy food to food-insecure communities through our partners
  • Supporting farmers of color
  • Selling to institutions that serve disadvantaged communities, such as schools and hospitals

Operational Priorities:

1. Local Sourcing

  • Spartanburg County
  • Within 100 miles of the Food Hub
  • SC Food Hub Network

2. Quick turnaround time

3. Competitive Pricing

4. Freshness
