Hands Behind the Hub: Wildly Loved Mushrooms

Chris started growing mushrooms in buckets in his backyard just a few years ago. What began as curiosity quickly turned into a passion. Going through the Northside Development Group’s Start Me program, that passion grew into Wildly Loved Mushrooms. You may have seen Chris at farmers’ markets across South Carolina, known for his beautiful displays of Lion’s Mane and King Blue Oyster mushrooms. From those original backyard buckets, Chris has recently expanded into a new production facility, increasing efficiency and capacity and taking the first steps toward GAP certification. This new space allows him to reach a broader audience across South Carolina, including restaurants, households, and institutions. Chris is drawn to mushroom production for its constant need for adaptation, the health benefits mushrooms provide, and the relationships he builds through selling his products. A strong supporter of the PAL Food Hub, Chris says our home delivery service allows him to focus on growing - “doing what he does best.” I hope that you enjoy a peek behind the curtain of mushroom production!
