Hyder Farms

Landrum, SC

Certified SC Grown, Family-owned & operated Peach Orchard.

Hyder Farms has been producing peaches for many generations in Upstate SC. They currently grow more than 15 different varieties of cling-stone and freestone peaches. The farm is family-owned and operated by brothers, Brandon and Matt Hyder, and their father, Phillip Hyder. Tending more than 17,000 peach trees on over 1,000 acres of farmland, they sell peaches all over the Southeast, including SC, GA, and FL. It has truly become a family business, with each member supporting the operation in their own, unique way - from pruning, picking and packing, to cooking lunch for the crew. Growing fruit crops can be a very land and labor intensive business. They keep ponds full on the farm to ensure they can water the trees during times of drought, keep fences mended to prevent loss to bears and other wildlife, and spend hours over the winter pruning in hopes of a good harvest the coming year. Fruit trees produce fruit just once per year, meaning the Hyder crew spends a lot of time and energy preparing their orchards and taking preemptive measures for the greatest chance of a good crop. It's a one-shot kind of crop. Some years are good, some years are bad. Despite the challenges facing fruit growers, this family farm is passionate about the products they grow and the people they grow for. They are always thinking about the health of their customers and choose Organic inputs when possible and avoid spraying close to harvest. This crew loves what they do and are eager to continue growing delicious peaches long into the future.

You can find Hyder peaches at the Hub City Farmers' Market, Landrum Farmers' Market, TD Saturday Market, and at the PAL Food Hub. The season starts mid-June and will continue until all the peaches are picked (around the first week in September). Support these local growers this season!
