22,000 pounds of free produce distributed to those in need!

July 24, 2020

On Thursday, July 23, Partners for Active Living and FoodShare Spartanburg distributed 22,000 pounds of free produce to several organizations throughout Spartanburg, Woodruff, Inman, Gaffney, Boiling Springs and Lyman. This was a team effort that will provide approximately 18,333 meals to families in need! The food arrived in a 53 foot tractor trailer from FoodShare SC and took a small army of volunteers to load. It was an all day affair, but a day very well spent as we were able to reach so many families across our community. We are grateful for the support of our community partners and volunteers.

Volunteers included folks from Pacolet Fire District, Lander University, Wofford College, Spartanburg YMCA, and FoodShare Spartanburg. This event was also supported by a grant from the Sisters of Charity. This distribution is part of a series of events that PAL has sponsored to help address food insecurity during the pandemic through our Food System Coalition.
