Spartanburg’s PAL expanding trails to create future 55-mile network

SPARTANBURG — The paved River Birch Trail that runs along Lawson’s Fork Creek could double in length this summer. In early May, 30-foot and 100-foot bridges will each be lowered over Lawson’s Fork Creek, said PAL Spartanburg Executive Director Laura Ringo. By mid-July, the rest of the half-mile extension from East Main Street to Heywood Avenue should be paved and open to the public. (By Christian Boschult, Post and Courier)

The Beaumont Mill Village Pathway is officially open as the newest segment of the Daniel Morgan Trail System (the DAN)! We had a great turnout at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that took place Saturday, March 18th and are so thankful to all the community partners that made it possible.

A coalition of nonprofits that is spearheading the Saluda Grade Trail has reached an agreement with Norfolk Southern to sell the 31-mile rail line for use as a recreational rail trail. The coalition has a signed agreement with the railroad establishing the price and other terms of a future purchase.
