Hands Behind the Hub - Intro

Hey PALs,

I want to introduce myself as the new Food Hub Coordinator, Justin Fleer. A little bit about me. My father is a chef, and I grew up working in his restaurants from the ripe age of 14. I started washing dishes, and by the time I left, I had touched every part except for being a bartender. Having my connection to the underbelly of the restaurant world, I got to meet a lot of farmers. The stories behind the food we eat is what makes this world such a magical place for me. The stories behind the land that it grows from, the growers that produce it, the chefs (either professional or amateur) that create with it, all compile onto the final plate. That is why we at the PAL Food Hub are starting a project to tell those stories. Over the next several weeks, we will begin a video series called, “The Hands Behind the Hub”. These will start as farmer profiles for our friends that produce the food on our storefront. From there, we will see where it goes. But what you can expect to see are videos that tell the story of the who, where, how, and most importantly, the why behind your food. We hope that this project, and other publishing on this brand-new blog, stirs up more excitement for local food, trust in where it comes from, and more exploration of your own food story.
